TEAM BUILDING
Team building refers to the activities that are undertaken to encourage and motivate the members of team and also increase the overall performance of the teams. Team Building activities consist of tasks that are undertaken to groom a member of team, encourage and motivate him and help him perform the best. Team building refers to a wide range of activities, presented to businesses, schools, and sports teams, religious or nonprofit organizations designed for improving team performance.
It is the ability to identify and encourage an individual, employees to form a team that stays together, work together, and achieves target together. Team building is the process of bringing individuals together to build a team. Team building is required for making a strong cohesive team which works together for a common goal.
Team building is a collective term used for various types of activities to enhance relations and define roles of the teams. It is different from training of teams, which is designed by a combination of business managers, learning and development (Internal or external) to improve the effectiveness and efficiency, rather than interpersonal relations.
Team building is most widely used development group activities in organizations. A very common strategy is to have a team-building retreat or corporate love-in, in which the members of team try to address underlying concerns and build trust by engaging in activities that are not part of what they ordinarily do as a team.
Team building is a philosophy of designing a job where employees are viewed as members of interdependent teams instead of as individual workers. Team building is pursued through a variety of practices. Team building can be seen in day-to-day working of an organization can be improved through successful leadership style. Team building is said to have benefits like self-development, positive communication, leadership skills and the ability to work closely together as a team to solve problems.
